Uber will launch in Ibiza on the 29th, with a minimum charge of 7.8 to 10 euros for passenger cars and 18.4 euros for vans that may transport groups of up to six persons.
This new public transportation option will be available on the island beginning next Wednesday at nine a.m., according to a statement issued by the firm. It also mentions that in the following weeks, reservations can be made up to 90 days in advance. According to Uber data, over 350,000 users have attempted to use the app during their stay in Ibiza since May of this year.
To utilise the service in Ibiza, the user must first download the app, register, and select a payment method. After you log in, you must specify your destination, and the application will display the total cost of your trip. When a driver accepts your request, the app will provide the estimated wait time till pickup, as well as car and driver information.
Ibiza becomes the eighth location to deploy it, and those in charge insist on continuing to invest in conjunction with the taxi industry. Ibiza taxi drivers who sign up to work with the APP can earn up to 150 euros for completing their first 25 trips and 300 euros for each new taxi driver invited to drive with the app. Taxis ordered through Uber will be charged the metered rate set by local authorities. Similarly, the first Uber cab drivers will receive weekly bonuses of up to 300 euros.
They ensure that they want to respond to the significant increase in demand for mobility that Ibiza has seen in recent years, particularly during the summer months. According to the National Institute of Statistics, more than 16 million national and international tourists visited the Balearic Islands in 2022 (almost 90% more than in 2021), with Ibiza accounting for 18.5% of the total.
