Ibiza Bus Transport: Navigating the Island 2026

Ibiza launches public transportation: new electric fleet, new website, and new app

This Wednesday, April 1st, one of the most important transformations in mobility in recent years begins in Ibiza. The island is launching a completely revamped public transportation system, with nearly 100 new busses, 62 reorganized lines, and an investment exceeding 88 million euros. The company ALSA will take over the service for the next 10 years.

The change is total. It’s not about adjusting schedules or adding a new vehicle: all the current lines as we knew them are disappearing, with new names, new routes, and new frequencies. That’s why, before getting on the bus, it’s advisable to get well informed.

And this is where the two key tools of the new system come into play.

The official website: your reference point for planning

The first is the official service website, www.alsaibiza.es  where users can check all the updated information: routes, stops, schedules, and any news that may arise during the adaptation period. It is the reference point for planning any travel around the island.

The Alsa Mobi4U app: real-time information in your pocket

The second, and perhaps the most useful in daily life, is the mobile app Alsa Mobi4U. With this app, users can know in real-time how long until the next bus arrives, check lines and stops from their mobile, and organize their routes with much more precision than before. This puts an end to one of the historical problems of public transportation on the island: the uncertainty about waiting times.

A fleet that makes a qualitative leap

The fleet also makes a huge qualitative leap. 64 of the nearly 100 busses are 100% electric, and the rest incorporate hybrid technology. All vehicles are accessible for people with reduced mobility and are equipped with WiFi, USB charging ports, and onboard information systems. Ibiza thus positions itself as one of the most advanced islands in Spain in the electrification of public transport.

New payment options

Regarding payment, there are also new features: tickets can be paid for directly on the bus with a card, at automatic machines in the Ibiza and Sant Antoni stations, and at the Santa Eulària and Es Canar stops, or thru digital channels.

A change that requires patience

The Mobility Councilor, Mariano Juan, has asked for patience during the first few days, acknowledging that a change of this magnitude needs a settling-in period. His message is clear: give the bus a chance, try it out.

If you live or work in Ibiza, the advice is simple: download the Alsa Mobi4U app, check out the website alsaibiza.es before your next trip, and get ready to discover an island that moves differently.
